The Vitebsk festival will become a centre of youth initiative and creativity today: Youth Day will be held at "Slavianski Bazaar", the forum directorate informed a BELTA correspondent. The Belarusian Republican Youth Union acted as the ideological inspirer and organiser of Youth Day, and the history of this celebration at "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" dates back to 2004. Youth events were unofficially kicked off yesterday by a large disco on Victory Square with the participation of youth stars DJ Alex Gaudino (Italy), DJ M.E.G, DJ Nejtrino (Russia). The official start of youth events will be marked by a press conference at the International Press Centre with the participation of the 1st Secretary of the BRYU Central Committee Igor Buzovsky, who will talk about what new initiatives the organisation has brought to the Youth Day programme and which traditions have been preserved. The presence of youth and a spirited mood will be particularly palpable at the festival today, as creative youth from all regions of the country have gathered to actively participate in the day's events. For instance, at Victory Square, one can attend master classes from graffiti and body art artists, beatbox performers, breakdance dancers, and practitioners of locking, tecktonik, house, jazz-funk, and other youth trends. Fans of extreme sports will demonstrate dizzying tricks and virtuoso performance techniques: cycle trial riders and rollerbladers, skateboarders and tracers. Anyone interested can visit a motorcycle exhibition organised by the public association "Motorcycle Club "Road Hounds" (Vitebsk), and the bravest can "mount the iron horses" not only to take a souvenir photo but also to ride around the festival city. Oleg Yezhov, a guru of kettlebell lifting and travel, has prepared an unusual gift for young men and women. As part of Youth Day, the titled athlete plans to set a new world record in the "alternating bench press of two 22 kg kettlebells for 1 minute" category. To register this incredible record, sports commissioner and representative of the Guinness Book of Records (London) Jack Brockbank is expected in festival Vitebsk.
