10 November, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. Nine rural public Internet access centres have been opened in Belarus, the Ministry of Communications and Informatisation informed the BELTA correspondent. The project "Organisation of Public Broadband Internet Access Centres in Rural Settlements of the Republic of Belarus" is being implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Informatisation and the International Telecommunication Union. Public Internet access centres have been opened in the villages of Dovsk (Roghachev District, Gomel Region), Divin (Kobrin District, Brest Region), Krulewshchina (Dokshytsy District, Vitebsk Region), Raytsy (Tolochin District, Vitebsk Region), Borovka (Lepel District, Vitebsk Region), Kholmech (Rechitsa District, Gomel Region), Zyabrovka (Gomel District, Gomel Region), Vertelishki (Grodno District, Grodno Region), and Timonovo (Klimovichi District, Mogilev Region). Each centre is equipped with four workstations (one of which is for the administrator), connected to a high-speed Internet channel and equipped with a printer, scanner, webcams, and other communication devices. The goal of the international project is to provide rural residents with the opportunity to use data transmission services, e-commerce, etc. Rural residents will gain access to government information and information from local administrations, including information on social security programmes, development programmes, and public events.-0-
