This was announced today to journalists by the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, Lidiya Yermoshina, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. Lidiya Yermoshina explained that contenders for the presidential candidacy must submit applications for the registration of initiative groups within 10 days from the date of the election appointment, i.e., no later than September 24. Within five days after that, the Central Election Commission must register the initiative groups of the contenders. And from September 30, the nomination of candidates, i.e., the collection of signatures, can begin. According to Belarusian legislation, a presidential candidate can be anyone who collects at least 100,000 signatures. -0-
