From March 6 to 8, local youth are bringing a festive mood to the fairer sex at enterprises and organizations in Polotsk. "Over a thousand tulips and creative greetings were prepared for the spring campaign. A total of 18 organizations in the city responded through the youth active to give smiles to unknown lovely women. Among them are JSC "Polotsk-Steklovolokno", RUPP "Nasledie F. Skoriny", JSC "Polotsk Dairy Plant", the central city hospital, five enterprises of UP "Vitebsk branch of Belarusian Railway" and others," the press service noted.
For example, the "Slavyansky" hotel complex, located in the city center, will surprise women passing by with greetings, flowers, and Chinese hospitality on March 7 from noon. A doorman in a tailcoat will escort lovely ladies to the "Chinese Motif" tea ceremony. A lady in a colourful kimono will offer fragrant drinks. Along F. Skoriny Avenue, young people will surprise representatives of the fair sex with flowers and poems by classics about love (A. Blok, A. Pushkin, A. Fet, S. Yesenin, and others), and will perform excerpts from popular romantic songs. In return, they will ask for a smile, which they will photograph as a keepsake. Successful photographs will become exhibits of the "Woman's Smile" exhibition.
The organizer of the "Flowers for a Stranger" campaign is the Department of Ideological Work, Culture and Youth Affairs of the District Executive Committee. "The spring SMILE campaign is aimed at fostering a sense of love and respect, noble attitude and sensitivity towards women among youth, popularizing creative youth projects, developing interest in the traditions of celebrating Women's Day, and the desire to bring joy to others through good deeds," noted Oksana Grib, chief specialist of the department.
