From April 13 to April 20 of the current year, the "Forest Week-2013" campaign will be held in Belarus on the initiative of the Ministry of Forestry. It is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the creation of the Kolesov's ball – a special tool for planting forests.
In addition, the "Forest Week-2013" campaign will be held in support of the events of the Year of Thrift, declared by the Decree of the Head of State.
Following a good tradition, everyone is welcome to participate in the campaign. Special sites will be prepared at the forestry enterprises of the republic, where volunteers will be given the opportunity to plant trees, improve the territory, create a memorial alley or establish a dendrological park. Everyone can choose how to contribute to the preservation and multiplication of the forest wealth of the republic. Forestry organizations will provide all volunteers with planting material and work tools. Registration of campaign participants will begin on April 1st. The lists of sites where campaign events will be organized will be available on the internet sites of the Ministry of Forestry, all state production forestry associations and forestry enterprises. Applications for participation in the campaign can also be submitted there.
The "Forest Week" campaign has been held by the Ministry of Forestry since 2007. During this time, more than 250 thousand people have participated in it.
This year, the State Forestry Institution "Lepel Forestry" plans to plant forest crops on an area of 165 hectares, including 65 hectares for the reconstruction of low-value forest stands. A total of about one million trees will be planted. Selected planting material of pine and spruce, grown in its own forest nurseries located in the Zaezerskoye forestry, will be used for forest planting. The supplementation of previously created forest crops will be carried out on an area of 250 hectares.
During the campaign, work will continue on the arrangement and planting of new trees and shrubs in the forestry's dendrological park, cleaning forests from litter and pollution, and improving the territories of forestry districts and recreation areas.
Currently, active preparations are underway at the forestry enterprise for the "Forest Week" campaign: a program of events, sites, and work tools are being prepared, and the public is being informed. The list of sites prepared to receive "Forest Week" participants will be published shortly.
