On a rainy day

Demand and supply for agricultural products have largely stabilised. Townspeople have mostly purchased potatoes for the winter and made other necessary provisions. Potatoes were offered at more than five locations. This is not many, considering that just a month ago, the goods were offered by up to twenty vendors. The maximum price was 30 thousand roubles per ten-litre bucket.

This is the peak season for sauerkraut. It is regularly sold by five regular vendors. By the way, the price of this vegetable has decreased by 500 roubles, now standing at 3500 roubles per kilogram. On Sunday, buyers purchased it by the sack. The most enterprising vendors even offered a delivery service to the buyer's home, provided that the purchase consisted of two or more sacks.

The price of carrots ranged from five to six thousand roubles per kilogram. The most enterprising vendors offered ready-made sauerkraut at 20 thousand roubles per kilogram.

Continuing the topic of root vegetables, we note that there were plenty of red beets, as well as radishes. The price was five to six thousand roubles per kilogram. However, there were not many buyers for the latter two items.

A lot of our Lepel apples have started to be brought to the market; the orchards yielded a rich harvest this year. The fruit was offered at prices ranging from eight to twelve thousand roubles per kilogram, sometimes more.

Grain was in good demand at the last market day. Moreover, the price for it has equalised – both a bucket of wheat and a bucket of barley were sold for 25 thousand roubles.

Recently, mushrooms were offered at 20 thousand roubles per three-litre bucket. A good option for those who like to enjoy mushroom soup but do not want to go to the forest. Cranberries were also sold there at 20 thousand roubles per litre.

The meat pavilion saw liveliness and a slight decrease in prices. There were many pork vendors; almost all counters were occupied. Prices for pork decreased by an average of five thousand roubles. For example, loin and neck were sold at 65 thousand roubles per kilogram. Ham was offered at 55 thousand, shoulder – at 50, stewing meat – at 45, shanks – at 20, and bones cost the same.

Undoubtedly, all pork was brought from meat processing plants, and pig skin is processed at enterprises using hot steam. The most enterprising sellers, before selling, fry the carcasses, thereby making the appearance of the goods more familiar and acceptable to buyers.

There were also many sellers in the dairy pavilion, which cannot be said about the number of buyers. By the way, prices for dairy products have slightly increased, by approximately one to five thousand rubles. Thus, a three-liter jar of milk was sold for 20-25 thousand, a half-liter jar of sour cream for 10-12, and cottage cheese for 35-40 thousand per kilogram. However, honey prices remained unchanged – 50 thousand for half a liter. Nearby, chicken eggs were also offered – for 18 thousand per dozen.

Gardeners from Pyshno regularly offer apples and seedlings to the residents of Lepel and guests of the city. Last Sunday, a small queue gathered at their stall. While the frosts have not set in, there is an opportunity to plant an apple tree.

A sales point of the compound feed plant has also opened. They offer only two types of goods – compound feed for chickens at 6400 rubles per kilogram and for chicks at 7500 rubles per kilogram. Moreover, the goods are in constant demand.

Finally, it should be noted that the weather significantly influenced the activity of the market. The rain forced many buyers to stay at home and attend to household chores.
