Alena Syargeyeuna graduated from the theatrical department of the Vitebsk State College of Culture and Education (now the College of Arts) with a degree in "Director of Amateur Theatre Groups". She currently works as an additional education teacher at the District Centre for Children and Youth, heading the children's exemplary theatre group "Triaда". Her students have become laureates of the 4th International Theatre Festival "Davydowski" in Moscow and the regional festival "Zhivaya Planeta", and won the children's theatre competition "Theatre of the Young Viewer 'Zubryonok'" within the framework of the republican competition of theatrical creativity "Young Talents of Belarus".
This, however, by no means exhausts the description of Alena Syargeyeuna as a highly gifted, creative individual. As it turned out, she is also a master of embroidery, as amateurs of decorative and applied arts personally experienced at the woman's solo exhibition titled "Flowers Bloom in My Soul", which opened at the "Skarbonka" salon. Flowers are the main protagonists of Alena Dabrydneva's embroidered pictures. The artist has captured their wide variety and vibrant beauty, their natural distinctiveness and uniqueness. To help exhibition visitors better understand why Alena Syargeyeuna is so purposefully working on embodying this creative idea, she read them her poem:
In my soul
flowers bloom —
And I cast them on the fabric,
To share
from my heart
What overflows
within me…
Alena Syargeyeuna told those present that her passion for needlework is a long-standing family tradition. She received her first lessons in sewing, knitting, embroidery, beadwork, and macrame in childhood from her mother, grandmother, and aunt in Krasnodon, Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine, where she was born and raised. Therefore, the flowers embroidered on canvas, the willow branches and rowan trees woven from beads that adorn the exhibition look lifelike, giving it a unique character and arousing curiosity. As a creative embodiment of a poignant childhood desire to paint, which simply found no place in real life later on, as music and theatre occupied all her free time, embroidery has become Alena Dabrydnieva’s most beloved form of creativity in recent years.
Most of the works were created under the influence of certain life circumstances, events, and personal impressions. For example, a portrait of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker was embroidered, framed with white towels with a floral pattern.
Alena Dabrydneva was sincerely congratulated on the opening of her personal exhibition by the director of the district Center of Crafts, Alena Baradzejka, the head of the theatrical department of the Lepel Children's Art School, Natallya Dziamilashvili, colleagues-teachers of additional education of the district center for children and youth, friends and acquaintances. Visitors did not disperse for a long time, thoughtfully looking at the paintings woven by diligent and skillful hands once again. Especially pleasant for Alena Dabrydneva were the heartfelt words expressed to her by her son Ivan and daughter-in-law Ilona.
