During the New Year and Christmas holidays, the library hosted exhibitions on relevant themes. At the lending department, there was a book exhibition titled “A Snowy, Tender Winter Fairy Tale,” primarily featuring poetry by various authors. In the reading room, an exhibition called “Under a Clear Christmas Sky” was set up, bringing together interesting New Year's and Christmas stories from periodicals.
Last year, the central district library had almost 5,400 readers.
Meetings of the elderly club, aptly named “Kind Encounters,” have become a cherished tradition. Last month, a “Young Pensioner’s Day” was held. Over a cup of coffee, participants got acquainted, shared information about themselves and their current activities, and spoke about the work they had recently been engaged in.
During the Christmas evenings, folklore gatherings titled “May the Christmas Star Shine!” took place. Gathered together, club members shared Christmas stories and traditions, and boasted about their Christmas table settings. Galina Lagutenok, Valentina Zakharova, Galina Sergeeva, Valentina Mazgavaya, and others actively attend the club's events.
A new form of cooperation between the district library and the agricultural technical college is the program “Teenage Meridian,” initiated by Svetlana Chernysh from the college and Galina Tishkevich from the library. This is a creative collaboration between librarians and first-year students living in the dormitory.
Three meetings have been held. The first was called “Turning the Pages of History,” introducing participants to the library. The second was a local history hour titled “Orthodox Lepel Region.” During the third meeting, a review of periodical advertisements was conducted under the title “What’s Interesting in the Press?” The next meeting will be an hour of discoveries titled “Famous People of the Lepel Region.” Up to fifteen people attend the meetings.
