Head of State Alexander Lukashenko sent a message to lawyers and employees of the legal profession in connection with the First Congress of Lawyers of Belarus. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
"It is symbolic that in the Year of Historical Memory, declared as such, the domestic legal profession celebrates its 100th anniversary. This crucial institution was established in the distant year of 1922 with the aim of ensuring the protection of the legal interests of the state and society, the rights and freedoms of citizens, and promoting the development of legal culture. Your predecessors – Soviet lawyers – were always distinguished by their devotion to the Motherland, the legal profession, and exceptional honesty and integrity," the message reads.
Alexander Lukashenko expressed his conviction that the First Congress of Lawyers of Belarus will be held under the banner of adherence to these ideals and the fundamental values of the country, and its delegates will demonstrate the continuity of legal traditions and readiness to protect not only individuals or organisations, but also the constitutional system, legality, and law and order.
"I wish the congress participants and all lawyers good health, inexhaustible energy, fruitful work, and professional achievements," the President emphasized.
