The woman from Polotsk district who killed her three-month-old child was found to be insane, reported Vladimir Shalukhin, Head of the Investigative Committee Department for the Vitebsk Region, in response to a question from a BELTA correspondent. According to him, during the investigation of this criminal case, a forensic psychiatric examination was conducted, the conclusions of which indicate that the woman suffers from a mental illness and was in a state of exacerbation of the disease at the moment of the murder. "The medical and legal insanity of the resident of Polotsk district has been established, and the necessity of her treatment in a psychiatric hospital under enhanced observation has been recognized. Currently, the case of committing a socially dangerous act has been transferred to the Vitebsk Regional Court, which will determine the measure of treatment and its duration. The woman is currently in custody," said Vladimir Shalukhin. The tragedy occurred on February 1 in one of the villages of the district. The woman, born in 1987, who lived with her partner and his mother, was left alone at home. At some point, her mother-in-law called her, and the young mother informed her about the murder of the boy.
