28 September, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. 74.61% of the registered voters participated in the parliamentary elections in Belarus. This was announced today during a meeting of the Central Election Commission by CEC Secretary Nikolay Lozovik, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. The CEC Secretary noted that the elections in the republic were held in an organized manner, with high voter turnout. "The total number of voters is 7,030,430 people, and 74.61% participated in the elections," informed Nikolay Lozovik. He added that all stages of the election campaign were carried out in full compliance with the electoral legislation. A distinctive feature of the current parliamentary elections is that significant amendments were made to the legislation after the 2008 parliamentary elections. Thus, the rights of parties and public associations in nominating candidates for deputies were expanded, and the forms of pre-election campaigning became more diverse. -0-
