The district centre will be the first of the Belarusian cities to be visited by the participants of the event. The rally includes 15 armoured vehicles – both old models (there is a model produced in the 1930s) and innovative models of military equipment. Residents of the city will be able to see such powerful machines as BM14-17, BTR-40, BTR-152, BRDM-1, and BRDM-2. Approximately 50 people are taking part in the event.
"We will welcome them around 12:00 PM at the memorial complex 'For our Soviet Motherland!', popularly known as 'Katyusha'. A rally dedicated to the approaching anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War will be held here. Afterwards, guests will be given a city tour, after which they will be taken to the memorial sign near the village of Pishchalovo, where the legendary 'Katyusha' fired its first salvo. And in the city park, an exhibition of the arrived vehicles will be held for the residents of Orsha, and those interested will be able to take photos and inspect them," said Sergey Gorbachev, acting head of the culture department of the Orsha District Executive Committee.
In the morning of June 19, participants will set off for Minsk. On June 22, they plan to arrive in Brest.
The "Road of Courage" armoured vehicle rally along the Moscow-Brest-Moscow route is dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War. It began on June 16 at Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow and is being held for the second time. Participants in the event will cover more than 2,000 km and visit 10 cities in Russia and Belarus. Representatives from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, and Kazakhstan are also taking part in the rally. The route coincides with the defence sites of Soviet troops in 1941. The rally is organised by the interregional public organisation for the study and operation of military equipment "Military-Technical Society". The "Road of Courage" event is being implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Foundation (Russia).
