A training sports and health centre will open on September 1 at School No. 1 in Gorodok, Vitebsk region, BELTA was informed by the Gorodok District Executive Committee.
The comprehensive training sports and health centre "4 Seasons of Health" includes a sports ground for workout and athletics, and two grounds for learning traffic rules and the basics of safe living.
The workout ground features six sports complexes that will allow for strength exercises of varying difficulty. The appearance of such a facility in the microdistrict will contribute to involving youth in a healthy lifestyle, popularising this sport, and diversifying leisure activities.
The running tracks are made with trauma-safe shock-absorbing surfacing, which allows for a more gentle load distribution on the musculoskeletal system.
The traffic rules learning ground is a miniature version of a busy roadway with intersections and pedestrian crossings. It is equipped with 46 road signs and a stand with a diagram showing all signs, their names, and groups.
The safe living basics ground features play structures in the form of a train, fire engine, motorcycle, helicopter, etc., which are very popular with younger schoolchildren. A thematic stand on rules of conduct in emergency situations is also installed here. In the future, this ground is planned to be used in the educational process for practical classes and interactive games with younger schoolchildren.
The centre was created on the initiative of the Department of Education, Sports and Tourism of the Gorodok District Executive Committee within the framework of the project "Prevention of Non-communicable Diseases, Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles and Support for Healthcare System Modernisation in the Republic of Belarus" ("Belmed"), which is funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP, WHO, UNICEF, and UNFPA in cooperation with the Ministry of Health in 2015-2019. Representatives of regional and district authorities, and representatives of the "Belmed" project will attend its grand opening ceremony on September 1. The celebration will include a demonstration of fire-fighting equipment and machinery, a dance and sports flash mob, and other events.
