A teacher is a representative of the President. This was stated by the Head of State, Alexander Lukashenko, at the Republican Pedagogical Council, when discussing the prestige of the profession, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The Head of State is convinced that without prestige, without raising the authority of teachers and school leadership, there is no point in talking about the effectiveness of education. "A teacher should be more than a saint in school! Therefore, we must do our utmost in this regard. And first and foremost, you must do it, you (teachers. - BELTA note) must want it, and we (the authorities. - BELTA note) must provide all possible support. A teacher is a representative of the President. Therefore, 50 percent of your workload is my workload. We will not allow anyone to leave teachers to face issues concerning dysfunctional families, living conditions of socially vulnerable children, and preventive and organizational work, alone," stated the Head of State.
"It is unacceptable that prosecutors and state control bodies visit individual schools more often than heads of the education sector," emphasized the Belarusian leader. The audience received this statement with approving applause.
He stated that the prestige of any profession implies a decent income. "In terms of salaries, for the first time in history, we have approached the national average. The arithmetic here is simple: you train competitive specialists, the economy grows - your income grows," said the President.
