A number of criminal cases have been initiated against the management of the Orsha Meat Canning Plant, the press group of the KGB Directorate for the Vitebsk region informed a BELTA correspondent. The unlawful activities of officials of OJSC "Orsha Meat Canning Plant" headed by the General Director have been suppressed by the KGB Directorate for the Vitebsk region in conjunction with the 9th Directorate (for the Vitebsk region) of the Main Directorate for Combating Organised Crime and Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus. It has been established that officials organised a scheme to transfer funds outside of Belarus. Through shell companies in the Russian Federation, they transferred approximately $2 million from the plant's assets, thereby causing damage to the enterprise on a particularly large scale. On the instructions of the General Director, state statistical reporting was intentionally falsified to the amount of over Br20 billion. Among other facts of unlawful activity by the enterprise's management is the provision of distorted data to the prosecutor's office regarding the extent of damage caused by a fire that occurred in the plant's refrigeration workshop in May 2011. At that time, four plant workers died as a result of the emergency. In reality, the damage from the fire amounted to over Br200 million, instead of the declared Br7 million. Facts of the director's abuse of his official powers during the construction of personal real estate properties, where the labour of employees and construction materials of the enterprise were used, have also been established. These facts were documented by an audit of the financial and economic activities of OJSC "Orsha Meat Canning Plant", conducted by an interdepartmental group comprising specialists from the State Control Committee, the Ministry of Finance, the KGB Directorate, and the Financial Investigations Department for the Vitebsk region. Criminal cases have been initiated against the General Director of the Orsha Meat Canning Plant under Part 2 of Article 424 (Abuse of power or official position), Part 2 of Article 427 (Service forgery) of the Criminal Code of Belarus. A criminal case has been initiated against the First Deputy General Director under Part 2 of Article 427 (Service forgery), and against the former Deputy General Director for Marketing and Sales under Part 3 of Article 426 (Exceeding power or official authority). Currently, a set of measures is being carried out aimed at establishing other facts of unlawful activity by officials. -0-
