The New Year holidays are approaching, and we all, of course, want them to be bright and memorable.
Not so long ago, Bengal lights and party poppers with colourful confetti were used to adorn them. They have been replaced by more spectacular, colourful, and visually impressive firecrackers, fireworks, and flares. However, when using pyrotechnic devices to enhance their celebrations, many people do not even suspect the danger they may pose to their lives.
Every year, due to careless handling of pyrotechnic devices, fires occur, and numerous burns of varying severity, as well as eye and hand injuries, are sustained by both adults and children. It is most regrettable to end up in a hospital bed on New Year's Eve when everyone else is resting and having fun.
To avoid tragic consequences, it is necessary to know:
- When purchasing pyrotechnic devices: pay attention to the expiration dates, the instructions for use must be in Russian/Belarusian, and demand a certificate of conformity for the pyrotechnic device from the seller;
- Purchase pyrotechnic devices only in their original factory packaging;
- Store pyrotechnic devices away from heating appliances in a place inaccessible to children;
- Do not carry pyrotechnic devices in pockets, under clothing, store them without packaging, or throw them;
- Do not use pyrotechnic devices with obvious defects: dented, wet, with cracks or other damage to the casing or fuse, and do not disassemble or modify finished pyrotechnic devices;
- Do not lean over pyrotechnic devices during their use, and do not attempt to re-ignite them if they fail to ignite or the fuse burns out;
- Before using a pyrotechnic device, **BE SURE TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!**
