By visiting the nearest post office, you can make all necessary payments: settle for home telephone and utility services, pay off bank loans, pay for insurance services, subscribe, etc. Postmen deliver newspapers, magazines, and registered mail to readers. The material and technical base is gradually being updated, and post offices are being modernized. We will discuss this in more detail with Pyotr Zharnasek, the head of the Lepel District Postal Communications Hub.

The organization includes 29 post offices, including four in urban areas and 25 in rural areas. The number of employees is 139 people. 62 postmen and 20 heads of post offices work on a part-time basis.

The employees of the district postal communications hub serve 226 rural settlements with a population of 16.7 thousand people, as well as an urban population of 17.5 thousand people. In addition, we serve 191 organizations.

Currently, mail and printed mass media are delivered within the city by 12:40 PM, and in rural areas – by 5:00 PM. Mail and printed mass media are transported within the city and district along four intra-district routes (one of which is operated by the Polotsk District Postal Communications Hub).

All post offices are equipped with computers, there are photocopiers, 21 post offices are equipped with scanners, and five postal information terminals have been installed.

Last year, current repairs were carried out in post offices to the amount of eight million rubles. The Zaslonovo post office is located in a new building; the floor, walls, ceiling, and windows have been repaired. The post office in Vyaliki Polsvizh and Stary Lepel has been renovated – unnecessary outbuildings have been removed, and the floor, stove, ceiling, walls, and facade of the building have been repaired. Post offices in Matyrina, Barouka, Stary Lyadna, Slabada, etc., have been put in order.

Based on the results of the half-year work, the profit from the sale of goods, products, works, and services amounted to 7.1 million rubles, with net profit at 0.684 million rubles. Revenue, including taxes and purchase price, totalled 3410.8 million rubles. The plan was fulfilled by 104.4 percent, with a year-on-year growth of 182.3 percent. Revenue from the sale of goods, products, works, and services, excluding taxes and purchase price, reached 2040.9 million rubles, or 102.2 percent of the plan, with a year-on-year growth of 175 percent.

Services rendered to legal entities and individuals amounted to 1545.9 million rubles, which constitutes 76 percent of the division's revenue, with a year-on-year growth of 180 percent at comparable prices.

Paid services to the population totalled 448.4 million rubles.

As of July 1st of the current year, the circulation of the main publications – socio-political newspapers – has been restored to the level of January 1st of the current year. Saturation per thousand people was 505 copies. The share of departmental subscriptions in the total circulation was 12.5 percent, while the share of major republican newspapers in the subscription circulation reached 38 percent.
