The registered unemployment rate in the Vitebsk region as of August 1 was 0.8% of the economically active population of the republic, and the measures taken allow for maintaining a stable labor market situation. According to data as of August 1, a total of just over 4.7 thousand unemployed people were registered, and the number of vacancies in enterprises and organizations exceeds 6 thousand units. In January-July, 21.2 thousand people were employed on a permanent basis, including 12.8 thousand unemployed. Among the employed unemployed, almost 39% were young people aged 16 to 29, and over 36% were women. 2.4 thousand citizens in particular need of social protection were employed in newly created jobs and available vacancies. Labor rehabilitation was provided for 23 unemployed citizens with disabilities in the region, involving partial compensation to employers for labor costs. Over seven months, about 1.6 thousand unemployed people were sent for vocational training, retraining, and skill enhancement. Over 330 unemployed citizens, including 114 women, received financial support from the Social Protection Fund of the Population to start their own businesses. In addition, 66 families of unemployed people were relocated to new places of residence and work, mainly to rural areas, with financial support from the Social Protection Fund of the Population. Paid public works were organized for 7.6 thousand people, of whom 5.1 thousand were unemployed.
