The person who committed the hooligan explosion at the KGB administration building in Vitebsk has been identified.

February 20, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. A criminal case initiated over hooliganism involving a homemade explosive device near the administrative building of the KGB Directorate for the Vitebsk Region has been solved. This was announced today at a joint briefing by Vladimir Shalukhin, Head of the Investigative Committee Directorate for the Vitebsk Region, and Igor Evseev, Head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, BELTA correspondent reports.

A woman, previously convicted for property damage, hooliganism, and theft, is accused of committing the crime.

According to Vladimir Shalukhin, during the inspection of the crime scene, multiple metal fragments were seized, which were parts of an energy drink can, adhesive tape, and other physical evidence that allowed for the identification of the perpetrator. Expert examinations and investigative actions led to the conclusion about the suspect's gender and the presence of a specific illness in them or their close relatives. While assessing the seized evidence, several theories were put forward. Additionally, materials from checks on all instances of hooliganism involving pyrotechnic devices in the Vitebsk Region were thoroughly studied.

As a result of the work carried out, a resident of Vitebsk, born in 1970, came under the investigators' attention. During the investigation of the criminal case, a search was immediately conducted at her place of residence. Investigators of the Investigative Committee Directorate for the Vitebsk Region and operational officers of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee discovered and seized a semi-bound notebook with handwritten records on explosive substances and their ratios, methods of preparing explosive mixtures, and pasted newspaper clippings about various explosions, including the explosion near the administrative building of the KGB Directorate of the Republic of Belarus for the Vitebsk Region; several homemade explosive devices similar to those seized at the crime scene, packed in energy drink and beer cans; about one hundred firecrackers, including disassembled ones; an air pistol; polymer cans; adhesive tape; granular substances of various origins, including saltpeter, as well as other items similar to those seized during the crime scene inspection.
