Dear residents of Lepel and guests of our city!
Congratulations on our city's Birthday! Today is our shared celebration, uniting us all: those born here and those who came to work and live. It is a celebration for everyone who loves their native Lepel and works for its benefit.
Modern Lepel began its history in 1439. Throughout its existence, the city has been repeatedly plundered and devastated, and the Lepel region has been ravaged. But each time, thanks to the love and diligence of the people of Lepel, our city was reborn and proudly continued its journey through the centuries.
Today, Lepel is a modern city with developing infrastructure.
Together, we are developing industry and agriculture, building roads, new housing, and sports facilities, reviving and enhancing the cultural traditions of our region. We strive to make the city better and more comfortable to live in: the museum and central park have been reconstructed, a sports and recreation centre with a swimming pool has been opened, educational institutions, the children's art school, and the paediatric and admission departments of the central district hospital have been repaired, and modern equipment has been purchased and installed. A new kindergarten is under construction, many modern shops and shopping centres have opened, and roads and pavements are being repaired.
All these and other positive changes in the city's life are the result of our joint efforts.
We still have many serious tasks ahead of us to improve our common home. I am convinced that by working together, we will be able to solve them. We will do everything possible to make comfort and well-being the foundation for life in our native land.
And here live the kindest, most hardworking, and hospitable people.
We are proud of our small homeland, our traditions, and the achievements of our fellow countrymen. We are proud of the residents who have brought fame to Lepel; today, their names are inscribed in the Book of Honour of Lepel residents and on the district's Honour Board.
We honour the memory of those who, at the cost of their lives, ensured peace above us; those who became victims of the terrible events of the Great Patriotic War.
It is symbolic that in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, a burial site from the war against the fascists was discovered in our district – evidence of their atrocities and the genocide of the Belarusian people. To date, the remains of over 300 civilians shot by punitive detachments during the war have been exhumed and sent for examination.
We believe in a bright future for our city. Together with you, we are creating this future today.
We express our gratitude to everyone who supports our fellow countrymen, who helps implement projects and cooperates with us in the development of our city and region.
We wish everyone happiness, well-being, confidence in the future, and peaceful skies above. May our region and our city flourish and develop!
Happy Holidays!
