On 06.06.2019, the International Level Crossing Awareness Day is observed.

The State Automobile Inspectorate urges you to remember and observe the safety rules at railway crossings.

A railway crossing is one of the complex and dangerous sections of the road. When crossing it, strictly follow the requirements of the Traffic Regulations. Violating them can lead not only to damage to your vehicle and your death but also threatens the safety of train traffic, and the lives and health of passengers.

REMEMBER! Your vigilance, attentiveness, and responsible behaviour will save your life and health.

When approaching a railway crossing, the driver is obliged to ensure that no railway transport is approaching, and to be guided by the instructions of the railway crossing attendant, the signals of the traffic lights, the position of the barrier, and the audible signal.

Persons violating the rules for crossing railway crossings are subject to administrative liability under Article 18.15 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus, which provides for a fine ranging from 2 to 4 base units.

IT IS FORBIDDEN TO ENTER A RAILWAY CROSSING:

- when the barrier is closed or is beginning to close, regardless of the traffic light signal

- when the traffic light signal is prohibitive, regardless of the presence and position of the barrier

- when the signal of the railway crossing attendant is prohibitive (the attendant is facing the driver with their chest or back, holding a lantern emitting a red light or a red flag above their head, or with outstretched arms)

- if a traffic jam has formed beyond the railway crossing, which will force the driver to stop on the railway crossing

- if a train is approaching the railway crossing within sight.

Dear pedestrians!

All persons near railway tracks are obliged to observe the rules for crossing railway crossings:

- before crossing a railway track via a pedestrian crossing or a railway crossing, it is necessary to ensure that there is no moving rolling stock

- when rolling stock is approaching, you should stop, let it pass, and, having made sure that there is no moving rolling stock on adjacent tracks, continue crossing.
