The customer for the public discussion of the environmental impact assessment report for the facility "Forestry Road Barsuki-Staysk-Chernitsa" (hereinafter referred to as the Facility) is the State Nature Protection Institution "Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve", address: 211188, Republic of Belarus, Vitebsk region, Lepel district, Domzheritsy village, Tsentralnaya St., 3, phone: +375 (2132) 2-63-44, fax: 375 (2132) 2-63-42, E-mail: info@berezinsky.by.
Objectives of the planned activity:
- ensuring the passage of equipment for firefighting,
- improving road conditions to ensure normal and uninterrupted operation of vehicles,
- reducing the transportation distance for workers engaged in forestry operations,
- reducing the route to the logging site, which will decrease the costs of timber hauling.
Justification for the planned activity: the construction project is implemented in accordance with the State Investment Programme for 2018, approved by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 44 of 01.02.2018. The implementation of the planned activity will ensure the completion of the entire range of forestry operations, the hauling of timber to processing sites and lower warehouses, forest fire protection, effective pest control, and will contribute to greater intensification of forest management.
The planned activity is to be located on a projected road section within the Lepel district of the Vitebsk region, on the lands of the Barsukovskoye forestry of the State Forestry Enterprise "Barsuki" of the State Nature Protection Institution "Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve". The land plot area is 11.2038 hectares, as per the site selection act for the construction of the "Forestry Road Barsuki-Staysk-Chernitsa", approved by the Chairman of the Lepel District Executive Committee on January 26, 2017.
The implementation period for the planned activity is 2018 – 2019.
The public discussion period for the project is from April 13 to May 14, 2018 (inclusive). Public proposals and comments will be accepted throughout the entire public discussion period.
The Environmental Impact Assessment report for the Facility can be reviewed on the website of the Lepel District Executive Committee at lepel.vitebsk-region.gov.by in the "Public Discussions" section, and at the Department of Architecture and Construction of the Lepel District Executive Committee (Lepel town, Leninskaya Street, building 6, office 107).
