The Directorate of Military Counterintelligence of the KGB of Belarus guarantees confidentiality and adequate remuneration to citizens who provide materials or information about the preparation or commission of a crime, the Directorate of Military Counterintelligence informed BELTA. "On April 11, an explosive device of unknown origin detonated at the Oktyabrskaya metro station, causing casualties. The Prosecutor General's Office has initiated a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 289 (Terrorism) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The Directorate of Military Counterintelligence, being the most prepared unit of the State Security Committee and having experience in conducting such operational-search activities, is directly involved in solving the committed crime and searching for persons involved in it," the Directorate noted. The Directorate of Military Counterintelligence noted that "at the present moment, all information relating to the emergency incident is of importance, including photos or videos taken before, during, or after the explosion." One of the areas of activity of the Directorate of Military Counterintelligence in the current circumstances is the detection of illegal storage of weapons, ammunition, and explosives. State security agencies have repeatedly warned the public about the removal of explosives from illegal circulation through their voluntary surrender and subsequent exemption from criminal liability. Given the tension of the current situation, if legislation on arms trafficking is not complied with, the measures taken will be stringent, corresponding to the complex operational environment.
