Farms in the district have completed the grain harvest and are currently engaged in harvesting spring rapeseed, leguminous grass seeds, winter cruciferous crops, corn, flax, potatoes, and vegetables. For example, "Queen of the Fields" was planted this year on 3.7 thousand hectares, which is 830 hectares more than last year. The average yield per hectare reaches 380 centners of green mass. This will create a good fodder base for stall housing of livestock, significantly increasing milk and meat production.
All flax, which is cultivated this year on more than 630 hectares, has already been pulled. The first thirty hectares of pressed and transported to the flax mill "northern silk" yielded 175 tons of flax straw with an average grade of 0.92. The need has arisen to stack the flax in cones, dry it, and seize every fine day to ensure the harvesting conveyor operates efficiently to process this crop and sell it to the state.
Potatoes have been planted on farms in the district on 310 hectares, which is 70 hectares more than last year. The first hectares of "second bread" dug up at OJSC "Ladna" yielded an average of 200 centners per hectare.
Vegetables, including cabbage, carrots, and beets, are grown on 37 hectares of fields in the district.
Soil plowing for winter grain crops is underway, and seeds are being treated. Sowing is actively being carried out in SVF "Zaazerye", KUVShGP "Lepelskoe", OJSC "Ladna", and some other farms. In total, winter crops are planned to be cultivated on 8.5 thousand hectares. This work must be completed within optimal deadlines.
A decision has been made by the district executive committee to involve student youth in agricultural work. More than 230 people are involved from the agricultural college and the state vocational lyceum alone. High school students from secondary and basic general education schools are also working in the fields. However, this is not enough, considering the significant areas occupied by potatoes, flax, and vegetables. Therefore, it will be impossible to manage without the active assistance of patrons from urban enterprises and institutions.
