During the Great Patriotic War, Maria Fyodorovna served in the 2nd Ushachi Brigade named after P. K. Ponomarenko, which operated in the Ushachi and Lepel districts. She worked in a military hospital, assisting wounded soldiers. Sometimes she carried out one-off assignments as part of a liaison group.
After the war, she worked as a seamstress at the household services combine in Lepel. She was repeatedly awarded certificates of merit and commendations for her conscientious and long-standing work.
