On September 19, Minsk /Elena Prus - BELTA/. Belarus harvested a record grain and pulse crop in 2012, BELTA was informed by Elena Kondratenko, press secretary of the National Statistical Committee. According to data as of September 1, this year, the gross harvest of grain and pulse crops (excluding corn) amounted to 8.7 million tonnes in initial recorded weight. For comparison, the corresponding figure in 2000 was 4.9 million tonnes, in 2001 - 5.1 million tonnes, in 2005 - 6.4 million tonnes, in 2006 - 5.6 million tonnes, in 2010 - 6.7 million tonnes, and in 2011 - 7.7 million tonnes. According to statistical data, as of September 1, this year, Belarus harvested 1.2 million tonnes of rye, 2.7 million tonnes of wheat, 2 million tonnes each of triticale and barley, 0.5 million tonnes of oats, and 0.4 million tonnes of pulses. This year is also a record for grain and pulse crop yields, with 37.6 centners per hectare of harvested area. In previous years, yields were significantly lower: in 2000 - 22.9 c/ha, in 2001 - 22.5 c/ha, in 2005 - 31.5 c/ha, in 2006 - 29.1 c/ha, in 2010 - 29.8 c/ha, and in 2011 - 34.2 c/ha. Moreover, the yield for each crop this year is higher than in previous years: rye - 30.6 c/ha, wheat - 40.2 c/ha, triticale - 41.1 c/ha, barley - 38.8 c/ha, oats - 36.4 c/ha, and pulses - 31.9 c/ha. -0-
