This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko today at a meeting on socio-economic development, according to a BELTA correspondent. "If someone wants to convert their ruble deposits into foreign currency, then such an opportunity should be provided. The population should not be restricted in anything," the President said. At the same time, he stressed that the National Bank should organize its work in such a way that the population does not have to withdraw rubles from the bank, go to an exchange office and buy currency, everything should be done on the spot. However, Alexander Lukashenko does not advise converting deposits. He recalled that banks are already offering high returns on Belarusian ruble deposits. In the near future, the yield on such deposits will become even higher. "Thus, the state will support its national currency and bear responsibility for it," the President emphasized. The head of state paid special attention to the economic processes taking place in the world. "Look at what is happening with the euro and the dollar. Everyone is concerned today: what to do with the printed green papers," Alexander Lukashenko noted, adding that talk of recession is increasingly heard in the world. In this regard, he warned: "Be careful that you do not end up with your euros and dollars in your pockets, under pillows, under mattresses, in garages, in bank vaults, and with your interests, and then do not be offended by us. I have warned you. We are responsible for our national currency and will support it in every way." The President once again recalled that there is no need to freeze the bank deposits of the population in Belarus. Alexander Lukashenko noted that, according to the National Bank's estimates, the population of Belarus has over $7 billion in cash. "In this regard, I instruct the National Bank to create such economic conditions so that people bring money into the banking system themselves.
