"All necessary conditions will be created for the elections to be held democratically, openly and in an organised manner, so that the elections become a celebration for the people, uniting our society," noted Vladimir Andreichenko.
He pointed out that when choosing the election date, the parliament was guided by two criteria – that the date complies with the Constitution of Belarus and is convenient for the population. "The date of October 11 has been chosen successfully: by this time, the holiday season is mostly over, students are in lecture halls, and agricultural work is completed," said Vladimir Andreichenko.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, also announced on the air that international organisations are invited to observe the elections. "The OSCE ODIHR traditionally observes elections, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has expressed its desire, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, and some other organisations. The President has instructed to invite everyone who has expressed a desire to participate in this process," he noted.
