September 6, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. According to the High-Tech Park (HTP) experts, the most in-demand specialities in 2018 will be "Software Engineer" and "Mathematics". This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the High-Tech Park during the traditional "Knowledge Day at HTP" event.
"By 2018, the most in-demand specialities in Belarus, and probably worldwide, will be 'Software Engineer' and 'Mathematics'. They will account for 60% of the demand combined, as well as 'Systems Engineer' – 14%, and 'IT Engineer' – 9%," said Yuri Derevyanko, Head of Marketing and Development Department of the HTP Administration.
According to the current year's admission campaign data, technical education is becoming increasingly popular. This year, the average passing score for admission to IT specialities at BSUIR (Faculty of Digital Technologies and Control Systems) exceeded 356 points, BSU (Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science) – 350 points, BSUIR (Faculty of Information Technologies and Management) – 319, which is 10-12% higher than in 2012.
HTP specialists informed schoolchildren about the advantages of an IT career, the creative atmosphere, high demand, high salary levels, potential for further growth and professional development, and the international nature of the work.
"We tried not only to talk about the advantages of an IT career but also to equip high school students with the necessary approaches to assess the prospects associated with choosing a particular profession. It is also necessary to look into the future and understand what skills, knowledge, and specialists will be in demand in the labour market in 5 or 10 years," said Yuri Derevyanko.
This year, the event reached an unprecedented scale: events with the participation of representatives of the High-Tech Park Administration were held in Minsk, Brest, Gomel, Vitebsk, Bobruisk, Orsha, Polotsk, Novopolotsk, Grodno, and Volkovysk. They were attended by over 3,500 Belarusian schoolchildren.-0-
