Around 70% of Belarusian healthcare facilities will be fully digitised by 2021. This was announced at a press conference by Semyon Polyakov, Head of the Department for Organisational, Methodological and System-Technical Support of Healthcare Informatisation at the Republican Research and Practical Centre for Medical Technologies, Informatisation, Management and Healthcare Economics, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"The healthcare system modernisation project in our country commenced in 2017. The World Bank has provided Belarus with a loan of $125 million for its implementation. A significant portion of these funds will be allocated to the digitisation of hospitals and polyclinics. By the completion of this project in 2021, approximately 70% of our healthcare facilities will be fully digitised," stated Semyon Polyakov.
A list of hospitals and polyclinics that will receive financial assistance has already been agreed upon. Healthcare facilities with a sufficiently high degree of computerisation will not be covered by the project.
The healthcare system modernisation project also entails the creation of a unified central healthcare internet platform, which will store information about each patient. "This electronic system will facilitate data exchange between all healthcare institutions. Services such as electronic prescriptions, electronic appointment booking, a patient's personal account, and others will operate on its basis," added Semyon Polyakov.
The objective of the project, supported by the World Bank, is to improve the quality of medical services provided to the population.
