As of January 1 of the current year, the throughput of external Internet access channels amounted to 783 Gbit/sec, increasing 1.6 times over the year.
According to a sample survey of households on living standards, about 60% of the population aged 6 years and older used the Internet last year. Moreover, two-thirds of them used the Internet daily. In 2014, 57.1% of households were connected to the Internet.
One of the most dynamically developing Internet services is broadband access. The number of subscribers accessing the Internet using broadband technologies as of January 1 of this year was 7.8 million. Broadband subscribers accounted for 80.5% of the total number of global network subscribers (at the beginning of 2014, this figure was 75.1%).

Today, the Internet is a part of public life, having long become a separate economic, social, and informational space that almost everyone needs. The World Wide Web is developing rapidly. The number of Internet users is constantly increasing. The Internet consists of many thousands of corporate, academic, governmental, and home computer networks.
