The majority of women (78.2%) live in cities and urban-type settlements – 3,969.3 thousand people, while in rural settlements, every fifth female resident of the republic lives – 1,108.3 thousand people.
According to the National Statistical Committee's estimate, on average across the republic, there are 871 men per 1000 women.
The average age of women is 42.4 years, with the average age of urban women being 40.9 years and rural women being 47.7 years. The life expectancy of women is increasing: in 2010, this figure was 76.5 years, and in 2014 – 78.4 years.
The statistical review was prepared by Belstat for International Women's Day, which is celebrated annually on March 8. This day is one of the most popular and widely celebrated holidays.
