In Belarus, 358.6 thousand children (against a plan of 349.4 thousand) have rested and improved their health in all types of camps during the summer holidays, Gennady Bolbatovsky, Director of the Republican Centre for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population under the Council of Ministers, informed a BELTA correspondent.
According to him, no emergencies occurred in the health resorts this summer. All necessary conditions for preserving the life and health of children were ensured, and sanitary-epidemiological regimes, labour protection and fire safety standards and norms were observed. State sanitary supervision was carried out constantly. No situations affecting sanitary and epidemiological well-being or group infectious diseases were registered.
The demand for summer health improvement was fully met. All boys and girls wishing and needing health improvement were provided with vouchers. The coverage of health improvement was 32% of the total number of children aged 6 to 18 years.
In total, 6,164 health resorts operated in the republic during the summer period, including 1,559 with round-the-clock stays (149.1 thousand children were health-improved, or 104% of the plan) and 4,605 day camps (209.5 thousand children were health-improved during the summer holidays, or 101.7% of the plan).
To ensure children engaged in activities of interest to them, 4,004 specialised camps (squads, shifts) were organised, including 1,506 round-the-clock camps and 2,398 day camps. 173.1 thousand children aged 6 to 18 years were health-improved in specialised camps. During the holidays, 954 work and recreation camps were opened, where 15.9 thousand teenagers aged 14 to 18 years improved their health and earned money (109.8% of the plan). Young residents of Belarus were also sent to defence and sports, military-patriotic, sports and health, tent, and tourist-local history camps, as well as to health resorts for highly motivated children. Gennady Bolbatovsky added that special attention was paid to children under preventive supervision by juvenile inspection commissions and children in socially dangerous situations.
