The basis of the new method is the patient's own cells. Scientists have already developed a project for the creation of so-called artificial skin, which is currently undergoing state expertise.
According to Igor Volotovsky, an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the task of the technology is to restore the integrity of the skin. Cells called fibroblasts are isolated, then mixed with a carrier and applied to the burn surface. "The effect is very good: there have been cases described where people had up to 90% of their skin surface affected - they were saved thanks to these cellular technologies," he said.
According to experts, the technology will be implemented within two years. This will significantly facilitate the work of doctors and help save patients' lives even in the most complex cases.
