5 January, Minsk /BELTA/. In Belarus, citizens' access to internet resources, including foreign ones, is not restricted. Information disseminated by some media and internet resources about the introduction of liability for visiting foreign websites is not true. This was stated to a BELTA correspondent at the Operational-Analytical Centre (OAC) under the President of the Republic of Belarus. It was explained here that the introduction of administrative responsibility from 6 January 2012 for violating the requirements for the use of the national segment of the Internet (Article 22.16 of the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offences) is aimed at implementing the requirements of Decree No. 60 "On Measures to Improve the Use of the National Segment of the Internet" dated 1 February 2010. The changes are designed to create favourable conditions for Belarusian economic entities, ensure the transparency of internet trade, protect the interests of Belarusian internet users from information prohibited by law (human trafficking, pornographic materials, propaganda of violence, cruelty, etc.), and create conditions for protecting honour and dignity. "Legislation does not impede the activities of Belarusian economic entities in selling goods, performing work, and providing services outside the Republic of Belarus using foreign internet resources," the OAC stressed. Administrative responsibility, the OAC clarified, can only be imposed on legal entities and individual entrepreneurs of the Republic of Belarus for carrying out activities on its territory for selling goods, performing work, and providing services using internet resources located outside the national segment of the Internet.-0-
