A national photo contest "I want to be like this in old age" has been announced in Belarus, the Belarusian Association of Social Workers NGO informed a BELTA correspondent.

In March of this year, as part of the "University of the Third Age: New Opportunities for Social Inclusion" project, Minsk residents were invited to take cameras and capture active pensioners. The organisers received many applications requesting to expand the contest to a national scale. They agreed, as vibrant, cheerful, and interesting people of venerable age live in regional centres, district towns, and small villages.

Residents of Belarus aged 14 to 31 are invited to participate in the photo contest. They are encouraged to submit photographs on themes such as "Portrait of an Elderly Person", "Family Photograph", "A Day in the Life...", "Scorched by War", and "I want to be like this in old age". Submissions are accepted until May 25 (no more than three entries per participant).

The award ceremony for the winners will take place in June at the graduation evening of the Minsk City University of the Third Age.

The photo contest "I want to be like this in old age" is held with the support of the MOO "Mutual Understanding" within the framework of the international programme for working with the elderly "Meeting Point - Dialogue", and the German foundation "Remembrance, Responsibility and Future".
