The text of Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 345 of 16.09.2020, which adjusts the legal regulation in the field of hunting, has been published on the National Legal Internet Portal. Its main provisions will come into force on January 1, 2021. From that time on, the Rules for Game Management and Hunting will be divided into two independent legal acts: the Hunting Rules (for hunters) and the Game Management Rules (for game farm employees).

Overall, the changes are aimed at improving conditions and increasing the accessibility of hunting. It will be possible to become a hunter from the age of 16, with the condition that until the age of 18, hunting will only be permitted without firearms.

The validity period of the permit for carrying and storing hunting weapons will be extended to 5 years (previously – 3 years), and the validity period of the medical certificate for obtaining and extending this permit will also be extended to 5 years (previously – 1 year).

Due to the availability of access to electronic databases, the violation record card for the state permit for hunting will be abolished, and registration documents for hunting dogs and falcons will be excluded from the list of documents that a hunter must carry.

Game farms will be required to allocate at least 30% of their territory as publicly accessible hunting grounds. All hunting permit holders will be obliged to provide for the possibility of selling hunting permits via the internet.
