On July 26, Minsk /BelTA correspondent/. Priority areas of scientific and technical activity for 2011-2015 have been determined in Belarus. The corresponding Decree No. 378 was signed by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on July 22, BelTA was informed by the press service of the Head of State.
In particular, over the next five years, financial and human resources will be focused on areas such as energy and energy saving; agro-industrial technologies and production; industrial and construction technologies and production; medicine, medical equipment and technologies, pharmacy; chemical technologies, nanotechnologies and biotechnologies; information and communication and aerospace technologies; new materials; rational use of natural resources, resource saving and protection from emergencies; defence capability and national security.
As explained by the press service, in the vast majority of cases, these areas are life-support oriented, allowing to improve the standard and quality of life of the country's population and its national security.
This decision is designed to ensure the orientation of scientific and technical activities towards the implementation of projects for the creation of new economic sectors with a high share of added value, low energy and material intensity of products, which will contribute to the intensification of the national economy development and the improvement of the population's well-being.
