This year, 73 mothers of large families from various regions of Belarus have been honored with this award.
This high mark of maternal valor was established by a decree of the President of Belarus in 1995. In accordance with the decree, since 2006, mothers of large families awarded the Order of Motherhood receive a one-time cash payment equal to five times the subsistence minimum budget per capita (the subsistence minimum budget from February 1 to April 30 of the current year, calculated per month, is Br1,428,100). Payments are made from the republican budget. In addition, various additional forms of encouragement for those awarded this order have been established in the regions of Belarus by decisions of local executive and administrative bodies.
Several years ago, amendments were made to the Resolution of the Council of Ministers "On Approval of the Regulation on Pensions for Special Merits to the Republic of Belarus." And since September 2012, women who have given birth to and raised nine or more children and have been awarded one of the state awards of the USSR or the Republic of Belarus, such as the Order of Motherhood, the Medal of Motherhood, the Order of Maternal Glory, or the Order of Mother Heroine, are eligible for a pension for special merits.
