Belarus proposes to expand the powers of Councils of Deputies in dealing with unused state property. This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Council for Entrepreneurship Development Alexander Turchin on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel, according to BELTA.

The next meeting of the Council for Entrepreneurship Development will be held on June 12. When asked what would be on the agenda of the meeting and what initiatives would be discussed, Alexander Turchin replied: "Regarding property issues, especially real estate and land lease, we propose to give more powers to the Councils of Deputies. If there is any unused building, deputies can assess it, review it, and make a decision – to sell it for a base value, at auction, or to transfer it free of charge."

On May 11, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 173 "On Improving the Activities of the Council for Entrepreneurship Development". The document is aimed at increasing the effectiveness of this body and involving the business community in the processes of implementing state economic policy. The Council is granted the right to submit proposals to state bodies and organizations for improving both regulatory legal acts and their application practices. In addition, the decree updated the personal composition of the Council for Entrepreneurship Development. It includes heads and owners of various enterprises in the country. In turn, representatives of other business unions (associations) will be granted the status of official partners, which will give them the opportunity to participate in the work of the council and perform other functions. "Initially, our goal was to slightly narrow the composition of the council. The reason is simple: the more people, the harder it is to gather. We met with representatives of the largest business unions and offered two options for the development of events: rotation or the status of official partners of the council. Their decision was that everyone would be an official partner, so that there would be equal conditions," explained the First Deputy Prime Minister.
