An IT university is planned to be established in Belarus by the new academic year. This was announced today to journalists by First Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Turchin following a meeting with the Head of State on certain issues of the country's digital development, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The meeting was a continuation of the President's meeting with representatives of the IT sector in the High-Tech Park, which took place in April this year. Education and specialist training for the industry were actively discussed there. According to Alexander Turchin, this topic reached its logical conclusion at the meeting: the Head of State supported the proposal to establish an IT university.
"This proposal comes not only from the IT community but also from our leading universities: BSU and BSUIR. I believe that in the near future, we will submit a relevant draft normative legal act to the Head of State for consideration, which will regulate the activities of this educational institution," said the First Deputy Prime Minister.
During the event, the IT community also put forward a proposal for experimental IT education based on school programs. The initiative was put forward by entrepreneur and founder of the investment company VP Capital, Viktor Prokopenya, who expressed his readiness to sponsor several schools to form specialised classes there. This idea received support from the Head of State.
