"We want to propose for discussion at the interdepartmental council the strategy developed by our centre to improve the quality and safety of food products in Belarus. We believe it is necessary because the quality and competitiveness of products are the foundation that will help us be present in the international market," said Zenon Lovkis.
Ways to improve, including the regulatory framework, have been identified, which will allow us to achieve, first and foremost, a higher quality of raw materials of plant and animal origin, and from them to obtain a worthy product.
The aforementioned strategy will be a component of the new national food security doctrine, which is currently under active development. The doctrine will become the country's new programme document on food security, replacing the food security concept that has been in effect since 2004. The day before, this document was considered at a meeting of the Presidium of the NAS. As those present had remarks and suggestions for additions, it was decided to finalise the document within the coming weeks.
Zenon Lovkis noted that similar documents have also been adopted in Russia.
