February 25, Minsk /BELTA/. The system of internal affairs bodies in Belarus is being reformed. The corresponding Decree No. 90 "On Measures to Improve the Activities of the Internal Affairs Bodies of the Republic of Belarus" was signed by the President on February 25, BELTA was informed by the press service of the Head of State.
In particular, the Internal Affairs Department on Transport of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is abolished, and its functions and staff are transferred to the Main Internal Affairs Department of the Minsk City Executive Committee and the Internal Affairs Departments of the Regional Executive Committees.
A Department for Ensuring Operational Investigative Activities is to be established on the basis of the Main Department for Operational Investigative Activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Minister of Internal Affairs is vested with certain new powers, in particular, the right to establish a public council under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, approve the regulations on this council and its personal composition, as well as the right to approve the Rules of Professional Ethics for Employees of Internal Affairs Bodies.
In addition, the activities of a number of healthcare organizations subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and territorial internal affairs bodies are being optimised.
The Decree comes into force on April 1, 2013, with the exception of some provisions.-0-
