On August 31, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 275 "On Support for Certain State Cultural Organizations". This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
In accordance with the document, from January 1, 2024, approaches to financing the activities of state theaters will change.
Financing of expenses from budget funds and the theaters' own funds will be carried out in proportions of 60/40, respectively, for the creation of new productions and the conduct of tours, as well as for the payment of utility services and operating expenses, and salary payments. Current and capital repairs, acquisition of equipment and other fixed assets will be carried out in full at the expense of budget funds.
The opportunity provided for directing funds from gratuitous (sponsorship) assistance to pay remuneration to employees of state cultural organizations is aimed at expanding the mechanism of social support for full-time employees and increasing their motivation.
The implementation of the decree's provisions should have a positive impact on the improvement of repertoire policy, the activation of creative activity and touring activities.
The specified approaches will be in effect until the end of 2024.
