In Belarus, all types of child benefits have increased since February

All types of state benefits for families raising children have increased in Belarus from February 1 of the current year. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Department of Population, Gender and Family Policy of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.

By a resolution of the ministry, the subsistence minimum budget per capita (SMB) has been established, which from February 1 to April 30, 2016, amounts to Br1,591,310 per month. The amounts of those types of child benefits that are calculated in relation to the SMB have increased by 1.4% compared to those in effect from November 1 of last year to January 31 of the current year.

Thus, the one-time benefit for the birth of the first child (10 SMB) for the next three months is Br15,913,100, for the birth of the second and subsequent children (14 SMB) - Br22,278,300. The one-time benefit for women who registered with state healthcare organizations before the 12-week pregnancy period (100% SMB) is Br1,591,300.

The monthly benefit for children over 3 years old from certain categories of families, as defined by legislation, for a child with a disability (70% SMB) equals Br1,113,900, for other children in the family (50% SMB) - Br795,700. The monthly childcare benefit for a child with a disability under 18 years of age (100% SMB) is Br1,591,300, the monthly benefit for a child under 18 years of age infected with HIV (70% SMB) - Br1,113,900.

The monthly benefit for families with children aged 3 to 18 during the period of raising a child under 3 years of age (50% SMB) is Br795,700.

In Belarus, since February of the current year, benefits for childcare for children under 3 years of age have also increased. As a reminder, in accordance with the law "On State Benefits for Families Raising Children," since January 1, 2013, the amount of monthly childcare benefits for children under 3 years of age is differentiated depending on the number of children in the family. For the first child, it is 35% of the average monthly wage of workers in the republic, for the second and subsequent children – 40%. When raising a child with a disability in the family, the benefit is assigned and paid in the amount of 45% of the average monthly wage, regardless of the birth order of this child in the family.

To calculate the amount of this type of benefit, from February 1 to April 30 of the current year, the average monthly wage for the fourth quarter of 2015 is used, amounting to Br7,001,336 (for the third quarter of 2015, this figure was Br6,953,494). Thus, from February to April 2016, the monthly childcare benefit for children under 3 years of age is Br2,450,500 for the first child, Br2,800,500 for the second and subsequent children, and Br3,150,600 for a child with a disability under 3 years of age (currently Br3,129,100).

For residents living in territories of radioactive contamination in the zone of subsequent resettlement or with the right to resettlement, childcare benefits for children under 3 years of age are assigned and paid in the amount of 150% of the amounts established by law.
