Child benefits in Belarus will increase from May this year, the Department of Population, Gender and Family Policy of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection informed a BELTA correspondent.

By a resolution of the ministry, a new subsistence minimum (SM) has been approved, which from May 1 to July 31, 2015, amounts to Br1,474,870 per month. This is 3.3% higher than the standard in effect from February 1 to April 30 this year. Accordingly, the amounts of certain types of state benefits for families raising children will increase by 3.3%.

Thus, the one-time benefit for the birth of the first child (10 SM) will be Br14,748,700 from May this year, for the birth of the second and subsequent children (14 SM) - Br20,648,200. The one-time benefit for women who registered with state healthcare organizations before the 12th week of pregnancy is Br1,474,900 (100% SM).

The monthly benefit for children over 3 years old from certain categories of families, as defined by law, for a disabled child (70% SM) will be Br1,032,400 from May, for other children in the family (50% SM) - Br737,400. The monthly benefit for caring for a disabled child under 18 years of age (100% SM) is Br1,474,900; the monthly benefit for a child under 18 years of age infected with HIV (70% SM) is Br1,032,400.

As a reminder, in accordance with the new version of the law "On State Benefits for Families Raising Children," since January 1, 2013, the amount of child care benefit for a child under 3 years of age has been differentiated depending on the number of children in the family. For the first child, it is 35% of the average monthly salary of workers in the republic, for the second and subsequent children - 40%. The benefit for a disabled child is assigned and paid in the amount of 45% of the average monthly salary, regardless of the order of birth of children in the family.

For the calculation of the amount of this type of benefit from May 1 to July 31 of the current year, the indicator of the average monthly wage for the fourth quarter of 2014 in the amount of Br6 million 460 thousand 634 is applied. Thus, from May to July, the amount of the monthly childcare allowance for a child under 3 years of age is, as in February-April, for the first child - Br2 million 261 thousand 200, for the second and subsequent children - Br2 million 584 thousand 300, for a child with a disability under 3 years of age - Br2 million 907 thousand 300.

For residents of the territory of radioactive contamination in the zone of subsequent resettlement or with the right to resettlement, the childcare allowance for a child under 3 years of age is appointed and paid in the amount of 150% of the amount established by law.
