In Belarus, the procedure for handling waste of goods and packaging has been adjusted

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has amended Decree No. 16 of January 17, 2020, "On Improving the Handling of Waste of Goods and Packaging". This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The adjustments provide for the exclusion from Decree No. 16 of provisions that have been transferred to the updated Law "On Waste Management" (adopted on June 28, 2022) and which come into force on January 1, 2023.

Furthermore, the specifics of the operation of the special account of the State Institution "Operator of Secondary Material Resources" and the use of funds credited to it are clarified. Personal responsibility of officials for the misuse of funds held in the special account of the State Institution "Operator of Secondary Material Resources", unlawful suspension of account operations, and unlawful seizure and arrest of the said funds are also stipulated.
