25 August, Minsk /BELTA/. A Republican Expert Commission for the Assessment of Information Products for the Presence (Absence) of Signs of Extremism is being established in Belarus. This is stipulated by Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 810 of 21 August 2014, BELTA was informed by the press service of the Belarusian government.
25 August, Minsk /BELTA/. A Republican Expert Commission for the Assessment of Information Products for the Presence (Absence) of Signs of Extremism is being established in Belarus. This is stipulated by Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 810 of 21 August 2014, BELTA was informed by the press service of the Belarusian government.
The Resolution also provides for the establishment of a system of expert commissions in each of the regions of Belarus. The Republican Expert Commission, established under the Ministry of Information, will also perform the functions of an expert commission for the city of Minsk.
The commission will include authoritative experts in the fields of philosophy, psychology, philology, sociology, as well as representatives of state administration bodies engaged in countering extremism, which will allow for a comprehensive and competent review of materials for the presence of signs of extremism.
The Republican Commission will conduct expertise of information products within the territory of Minsk. Its competencies also include approving regulations on regional commissions and their composition, and developing recommendations for regional commissions. Furthermore, it will consider complaints against expert opinions of regional commissions, study and disseminate domestic and foreign experience in preventing the promotion of extremist activities in information products.
The Commission will have the right to request and receive necessary documents, materials, and information relevant to conducting expertise. It will also be able to invite and hear representatives of state bodies, organizations, public associations, and individual entrepreneurs at its meetings. If necessary, various specialists and public figures not part of the commission will be involved in the expertise.
The grounds for conducting expertise of information products will be appeals from state bodies, organizations, public associations, and individual entrepreneurs, as well as resolutions (determinations) of state bodies or officials who have the appropriate authority.
