Thus, last year twins were born to 1,348 women (in 2010 - to 1,027).
The strengthening of marital and family relations is evidenced by the increase in the birth of children to women in registered marriages (in 2016 - 86.7%, in 2010 - 80.4%).
Since 2007, more than 100,000 women have become mothers annually. In 2016, 117.8 thousand children were born, of which 48.5 thousand (41.2%) were firstborns. More than half of the births are associated with women giving birth to their second, third, and subsequent children. Thus, the proportion of second-born children in the total number of births increased from 36.1% in 2010 to 39.9% in 2016, and third and subsequent children - from 11.6% to 18.9%.
In 2016, the average age of women at childbirth was 28.9 years, in urban areas - 29.3 years, in rural areas - 27.7 years.
