According to the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the problem of domestic violence remains relevant, although in recent years there has been a trend towards a decrease in the number of domestic crimes. At the same time, every fourth murder and grievous bodily harm is committed within the family, noted Sergey Krasutsky.
The nationwide preventive campaign "A Home Without Violence" is being held from April 17 to 28 by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in conjunction with interested state bodies and public associations. The campaign has become traditional, held annually in cooperation with other departments and public organisations.
Meetings in work collectives, round tables, thematic speeches by specialists in the media, and the broadcast of social videos on television and the internet are planned. Law enforcement officers, representatives of the ministries of labour and social protection, education, health, and various public organisations will inform about the current legal norms and the assistance that victims of domestic violence can receive. Interdepartmental working groups will visit the homes of domestic abusers, conduct preventive conversations with them, and invite them to preventive events.
